I honestly can’t believe that our little Ro-Ro is going to be turning 2 in just 1 short week! It’s crazy how fast the year from 1-2 has flown! (I think it even feels faster then the newborn to 1 stage) With two being right around the corner I wanted to recount some of Rosie’s major milestones over the past year. For those curious, you can find a complete list of Developmental Milestones on the CDC website: HERE I’m also sharing some summer attire for the little ones..so feel free to scroll down to the bottom of this post for the full boutique
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this little angel is way smarter then her parents. Frank & I often find ourselves saying to each-other no way? wait? is she really ready to be doing that? More often then not, it feels as though Rosie is showing us newbie parents the ropes!
BIG GIRL TODDLER BED: Rosie transitioned into a big-girl toddler bed a few months ago (she had been climbing in and out of the crib successfully for a few months before we decided to make the switch… after speaking with our pediatrician at Rosie’s 18 month check-up she mentioned we should move her into a toddler bed or buy a big girl bed ASAP. Our crib came with a toddler conversion kit (as most do) so it was relatively simple to make the transition. I was definitely a bit nervous in the beginning and we did have 1-2 instances where we found her asleep in her play tee-pee (book in hand) but since then she has been pretty good with staying put over-night!
POTTY TRAINING: I know a lot of you have asked about the progress of potty training and our experience since I first mentioned it & I’m happy to report that Rosie is officially potty trained… and while there were 2 AWFUL days for the most part it wasn’t THAT BAD (which I think had to do with the fact that it happened in a little under a week) I was under the impression it was going to take weeks on end… so that was a very welcomed surprise! I’ll be dedicating an entire post to potty training so more on that later!
SPEAKING IN SENTENCES & SINGING: Rosie really LOVES to SING! She is always singing to us, herself, her Moana Doll & she has the sweetest little voice. Her favorites are the ABC’S, twinkle twinkle little star, itsy bitsy spider & wheels on the bus (pretty much all of our standard go-to nursery rhymes) She even surprised me recently by singing a few words to a lullaby that I used to sing to her as a baby to help put her to sleep and that my mom used to sing to me as a child.
Another exciting development that has happened over the last month is that she has moved from being able to put a few words together at a time to really stringing along sentences & being able to communicate what she wants or is feeling. For example: “Mommy go get shoes on, I want to go park” “I have to go potty now mommy, I want a cookie after… a few of her recent favorites.
TERRIBLE 2 MOMENTS: Rosie has definitely had some of those terrible 2 moments already, typically after being told N-O to something. She is very strong willed and now is able to communicate exactly what she wants so it’s not always easy staying the course.. I’ve learned to let her cry a bit & let her have her tantrum (she usually snaps out of it a lot quicker then when I try to console and convince her to stop)
I am so proud of the little girl that Rosie is growing into… When she shares one of her toys at the park or does something kind no matter how small it is it truly amazes me. Ever since she could utter the word hi, she would say hello and now good morning to every single person every time we stepped foot in our apartment elevator regardless of how early it was and how many times she had to repeat it 😉 I’m thinking she gets this very chatty side from my mom (because both my husband & I are more on the reserved side). ..Even the people who I can tell find it annoying can’t help but crack a little smile, because she literally puts a smile on everyones face (and I’m not just saying that because I’m her MOM ok maybe I am 😉
As equally kind & sweet as she is, she is also hilarious and SLY (she knows exactly what she’s doing when she’s doing it & if it’s something that she knows mommy and daddy won’t approve of she’ll put on her slyest and cutest face in order to get away with it! Anyways I could gush on and on like all MOMS can but I just wanted to share a quick update on where we are these days and recount some big moments over the past couple months as we’re about to enter into a new stage! As always if there is anything specific you want me to cover on the BLOG just send me a message 🙂
