When it comes to traveling with an infant less is definitely more! I realize that likely sounds a lot easier said then done but trust me you will be cursing yourself if your suitcase is even heavier for packing that extra pair of wedges you were probably never going to wear in the first place!
We took Rosie on her first flight when she was 6 months old to visit my family in Florida over the holidays. Besides the extra 15-20 lbs strapped to either mine or my husband’s chest, we packed considerably light. Thankfully Grandma aka “GG” made sure the house was Rosie ready securing all of the diapering, feeding, bathing and sleeping essentials before our arrival.
With the basics covered, we still had some gear to transport. We brought this umbrella stroller which was a lightweight and compact alternative to our everyday stroller
This Grab & Go Bottle bag from Skip Hop which keeps bottles or sippy cups insulated for 2-4 hrs and slides nicely onto the back of your travel stroller
And this soft baby blanket to keep our little one snuggly and warm on those cold airplanes
If you don’t have a crib at your destination, we use the 4Moms Playard for overnights. Setting up this portable crib is a piece of cake and I like that the mattress is elevated unlike some of the options out there where the mattress lays flat on the ground. *The bassinet also doubles as a changing table and is removable for when your infant gets older.
And last but not least…before jetting off to JFK, LGA OR EWR the one item that you do not want to leave home without is the baby carrier. The hands free capabilities made slipping through security lines a breeze. We received the Ergo Baby 360 from my bro & sis in law as a shower gift and we love it! P.S.- Don’t forget to purchase the infant insert if your tot is under 12 lbs.
