Rosie turning 2 in a few short weeks had me thinking back to how we celebrated her Numero Uno Bday! I also received a few requests surrounding birthday party outfits & decor so I figured it was the perfect opportunity to share both! Rosie’s birthday & Frank & I’s wedding anniversary happen to fall 2 days apart.. so we decided to combine the two & spend a low-key weekend out in Montauk as a family of 3 🙂
I wanted to make a big deal about Rosie’s 1st birthday but I didn’t want to get caught up in the details, organizing, planning & stressing about the birthday “party” (not to mention I think there would have been more of Frank & I’s friends there as opposed to kids her age had we thrown her a traditional bday party 🙂 That said, we decided a low-key family weekend in our fav spot would be the perfect way to mark the occasion. On the morning of Rosie’s 1st birthday we woke up & had birthday cake for breakfast. My mom had called in a special favor from the same place that made our wedding cake which was a fun surprise…we laid down a beach-towel on the lawn of the Montauk Manor, sang happy birthday and let Rosie devour the cake hands first! It was prefect, low-key & just the 3 of us. We spent the rest of the weekend swimming in the pool, enjoyed a lovely sunset & happy hour at the Montauket with friends & ended the weekend with a family dinner at the Montauk Lake Club where Frank & I were married. We later celebrated with family back in the city, I ordered pizza to the apartment & baked a drug-store bought fun-fetti cake. The pure sugar bad for you kind of cake… I apologize ahead of time but you’re not going to find any recipes for organic or gluten free aka (non-sugary) deserts here.
I’m not sure yet what we will do for Rosie’s 2nd bday…I tend to leave things to the last minute (a quality that annoys my husband & friends a great deal) but either way I’m sure we will have tons of fun & I will keep you posted! Scroll down for some party outfit & decor Inspo!

BIRTHDAY OUTFITS
Rosie wore a similar cute bikini bathing suit: here with this birthday bib & this birthday crown. She changed into a Striped Sailboat dress which I absolutely adore but unfortunately is no longer available. This is a very similar dress. The version she wore was made by carriage boutique (another one of my favorites for special occasion & smocked dressing) They have a lot of similar cute options for both girls & boys: HERE … I came across this particular outfit when looking for a friend & I’m so bummed it wasn’t available when Rosie was turning 1. It’s absolutely adorable for a 1 year old girl or boy (comes in pink & blue)! I can’t get over the cuteness of the pink version and the bow back. My birthday picks for a boy: this ice-cream themed outfit & this sailboat Jon Jon for all summer long here. I’m currently trying to decide between Rosie’s 2nd birthday outfit and I am in between this & this from Smocked Auctions (who btw is having a major summer sale right now) I just picked up this ice-cream cone bow which she can wear all summer long.
HATS, BIBS & DECOR
This birthday crown is a must for a boy or a girl. You can add the birthday AGE & monogram it if you wish. I picked up a similar crown at the Sammy & Nat Rye opening made by my friend Brooke from Monogram Mary. (she has the cutest monogrammed EVERYTHING) For Rosie’s 1st birthday, she wore this cute headband crown that was soft & stretchy. When it comes to birthday decor you can’t go wrong with a classic birthday sign, balloons & more themed goodies from your neighbored party city. We were outdoors so we didn’t do the smash cake in a high chair but if you choose to go that route there are some cute high-chair birthday decor kits like this & this available on Amazon
